You know what? I recently went to Raleigh

You know what? I recently went to Raleigh, North Carolina for the first time and I have to say that I am totally surprised that nobody had ever told me to go there sooner. I went to go watch the Carolina Hurricanes play some NHL hockey games because I live in Hartford, Connecticut where their team used to be before it was moved to Carolina nearly two decades ago. Because Hartford was not given a new team I always cheered for Carolina, and when they won a championship in 2006 I swore that someday I would go down and watch them play some hockey game live.

That was a long time ago, but recently I was finally able to take my little trip all by myself and watch my team play a few home games. Although that was certainly amazing in itself, I have to say that I was astounded by all of the amazing things that the City of Raleigh North Carolina had to offer me. North Carolina is not that far from Connecticut geographically, but culturally it is a whole different story. I didn’t realize that North Carolina was right on the cusp of the deep south of America, because it is really not that far from other states that are removed from the southern identity. So, I was pleasantly surprised that I was drinking sweet tea rather than iced tea, and that when I drove around the city I saw all sorts of beautiful, stunning Southern Gothic architecture which I thought only existed in places like Georgia and Alabama. Yes, my little trip could not have been better. I certainly plan on going back and when I do I will check out other cities that I’ve always wanted to see like Charlotte, Memphis, and Savannah.  I did not expect the City of Raleigh North Carolina to impress me as much as it did. Now, I would recommend it to almost anybody ever– seriously it was just that good I can’t believe it! I literally can’t think of any way that it could have been a more satisfying experience or that the city of Raleigh could have been any more accommodating to me. The food, Hospitality, generosity, and general vibe of the city was second to none. Thank you, Raleigh North Carolina, for making my trip that was so long in the making completely and totally satisfying, outstanding, and worthwhile… Oh yeah, PS– Go Hurricanes, go!
